JIT IEEE Student branch in association with JIT IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group organized a seminar called “IEEE Spectrum Discussion”, a flagship event of JIT IEEE Student branch. This seminar is a continuous activity of the student branch which is used for the student members of IEEE SB to enhance their technical knowledge in terms of knowing the latest technological advancements and on-going research activities across the globe. The event also improves the presentation skills and reduces the stage fear among the IEEE student members.
IEEE spectrum discussion based on the December 2019 Spectrum magazine was held on 04.02.2020 at Lecture Hall 20 from 03:45pm to 05:00 pm. Totally, 14 IEEE student members and one non-member from III year EEE attended the event.
The session addressed two main points. The first one was about “Super-Efficient Gas turbine” discussed by Ms.S. Madheswari, III year ECE. She explained the topic well and answered for the queries raised by the audience. The second topic was “Snot Robot” presented by Ms.S. Booranapriya, III year ECE. She explained that these are underwater robot used for monitoring the health of Whales. She also described the operation and functionalities of Snot bot.
The snapshots of December 2019 Spectrum magazine was presented by V. Poojashri, II year ECE. Mr.E. Senthurvelan, II year ECE announced about “One day hands-on workshop on R-Programming” to the gathering.
Later, Dr.S. Elangovan, IEEE Student Branch counselor suggested various presentation skills and how to improve their presentation and encouraged the audience to go through the magazine and ask more questions to the presenters and hence he suggested that the overall knowledge sharing will be improved.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.M. Nilanjana, III year ECE, In-charge, IEEE Spectrum discussion.
