The Induction Day for the 2015 – 2019 batch was held on 06.08.15 2pm – 4pm in Sivaganga auditorium. The programme commenced with the lighting of the kuthu vilakku and prayer song.The function was presided over by our Vice-Chairman Mr.T.N.Thirukumar, CEO of Jansons Institutions Mr.S.Mohan, Principal of JIT Dr.V.Nagarajan, Vice-Principal Dr.G.Vairavel, Heads of all departments, Teaching and Technical Staff of Mechanical Department.
Newly joined 90 students along with their parents and the office bearers of Southern Automotive Engineers (SAE) club and Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA) club attended the function.
Dr. B Sathishkumar, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department welcomed the gathering with a brief introduction about JIT and Mechanical Department. He made a presentation on ‘ World of Mechanical Engineers ’ which briefed about the streams and vastness of Mechanical Engineering, wings of the mechanical department ranging from nano to macro and the value of mechanical engineering in various fields like electronics, IT, medical, etc. He emphasised that every product developed has the hands of engineers from all disciplines and requested the students to develop a cordial relationship with the students of other department.
Later, he also presented the Anna University Regulation ’13 in which he briefed about the Structure of the Programme, Attendance Requirements, System of Examination and Semester Curriculum in Anna University, Chennai practised in affiliated colleges and the culture in JIT. He described about the mark system, i.e.. Internal assessment marks, University exam marks.
Mr. T Guru Prasad, Secretary of Mechanical Engineering Association and T. Logeshwaran of IV Mechanical Engineering, presented the achievements of our students and the details of value added courses organised, Engineering &Technology Enrichment Programme, Industrial visits, In-plant training and Internships during the four years in JIT.
Mr. R Dinesh, faculty of Mechanical Engineering made a presentation developed and compiled by Mr. N. Srinivasan, AP, Mech. Engg. The presentation was about the opportunities available for an engineering graduate after a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Job opportunities in Mechanical Engineering and scope for higher education in India and abroad were presented. The importance of GATE exam for appearing for Indian Engineering Services exams and Government jobs was presented. Likewise the need for consistent preparation for the above exams during the course of study right from I year was explained.
Following the presentation by Mr.R.Dinesh, Mr. T Guru Prasad, secretary of Mechanical Engineering Association presented the vote of thanks. The function came to a close with the national anthem.
