“NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM EESARGA IGNIZ 2K17” AT JANSONS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, COIMBATORE

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with Jansons Institute of Technology IEEE Student Branch organized “A National Level Technical Symposium EESARGA IGNIZ’17” on 21 st March 2017 at Sivaganga Auditorium, Jansons Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. Dr.S. Sundaresh, Distinguished Fellow, DRDO Chennai and Chair, Technology in Engineering Management Society, IEEE Madras Section was the Chief Guest. The students of Department of EEE, Jansons Institute of Technology, Coimbatore had various display projects to show-case the recent technologies, history of various Scientists, Physicists who contributed for Electrical Engineering and power resources available in India.

Prior to the day of event, 72 papers, 17 projects were received. The Technical Committee of IGNIZ 2k17 have scrutinized and shortlisted 43 papers and 15 projects and issued the confirmation mail. Finally 39 papers and 14 projects were turned up. And a total of 132 students from 21 Engineering Institutions participated in the Technical Fest.  Mr.B. Vishnuvarthan, Student Chairman, ELECTRICO (Association of EEE) for the year 2016-17 welcomed the gathering. Ms.S. Alagulakshmi, Coordinator IGNIZ’17 unveiled the facts about the symposium. Mr.K. Chandra Prakash, Coordinator, IGNIZ ’17 introduced the Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest delivered the Inaugural Address. In his Address, he had discussed about the recent advances of Power Electronics controllers and latest Electrical Drive applications in Defense Industries. The recent technologies used in the defense vehicles were described by him. He also explained about the latest challenges they faced and how they solved them. He has thrown out various challenges available with DRDO for the students to take up as their Research and to contribute to the Country. He motivated the students to join the defence sector of the Country by giving them various opportunities in the sector.

Later, the Souvenir of the Symposium was released by the Chief Guest. He also launched the e-Newsletter of the department “LIVEWIRE”. Earlier, the Chief Guest visited the display projects done by the students of Jansons Institute of Technology and appreciated the students for the efforts they put in and gave them various ideas for similar projects. The various events conducted in this Symposium are Paper Presentation, Project presentation, Technical Connections, Technical Quiz, Circuit Debugging, Puzzle race, Adzap, Mock Press etc. The Chief Guest visited the Project Presentations and evaluated them along with Dr.G. Vetrichelvi, HoD, Department of ECE, JIT. He had appreciated the students for their Projects and gave them new technical ideas for improving their projects further. Attractive prizes and cash awards were given to the prize winners.

Ms.B. Subathi, IV year EEE proposed the Vote of Thanks. The whole programme was well organized by Mr.K. Mahendran, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE.  The programme was well organized and well attended by the delegates. The delegates in their feedback session have amazed about the Infrastructure of the Institution, hospitality provided to them, organization and flow of the programme and volunteering nature of students and faculty members of the department.
