National level technical symposium- IGNIZ 2k17

A National Level Technical Symposium IGNIZ’2K17” was conducted by the department of Electrical and Electronics on 26th September 2017 at Sivaganga Auditorium, Jansons Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. The proposal for the national level technical symposium “IGNIZ’2K17” was given to the principal, CEO and management in the month of June 2017 which was approved later.

The Symposium was promoted by means of sending posters to different colleges in and around Tamilnadu in the first week of August, 2017. The publicity was also done by the students using social media like WhatsApp, Face book, tweeter etc. For the Symposium we have received 23 papers and 10 projects. The students prepared the working model of Hydro Power plant and non- working model of smart Grid which were displayed at the Entrance of the college. The symposium was Inaugurated by Mr. Sundar Muruganandhan, Managing Director, Versa Drives Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore (Manufacturers of “Superfan”). The Inaugural function began with the prayer song and the dignitaries on the dais lit the kuthuvizhaku. The Head of the Department Dr.S.Elangovan gave the memento to the chief guest. The inaugural address was delivered by our honorable Chief Guest. In his Address, he had imparted the knowledge on super fan, BLDC motor and latest Electrical Drive applications. Later, the Chief Guest released the Newsletter of the EEE Department, “LIVEWIRE”. Also a promo video was played during the inaugural, and highly appreciated by the Chief Guest.

Overall, 77 students from 18 Engineering Institutions in and around Coimbatore participated in the Technical Fest. The day greeted us with pleasant and memorable moments. After the Inaugural, various events were conducted alternately by the staff and student coordinators in different halls. Project expo was displayed in the power electronics lab. Dr.G.Vetrichelvi, Department of ECE, JIT visited the Project Presentations and evaluated them along with Dr.T. Meenakshi, Department of EEE. She had appreciated the students for their Projects and gave them new technical ideas for improving the projects. The Paper presentation was held in LH-1 where Dr.S.SathishKumar evaluated the presentation and in LH-2. The evaluation was done by Professor C.Shanmugan, Department of ECE. 

Cash Prize and Certificates for the winners of various contests were distributed by Dr.S.Elangovan, Dr. T. Meenakshi, Dr. S. Sathish Kumar and Mrs. S. Aruna in the valediction. The delegates in participant’s feedback session have amazed about the Infrastructure of the Institution, hospitality provided to them, organization and flow of the programme and volunteering nature of students and faculty members of the department.
