The session was taken forward through physical mode at Seminar Hall. Dr.S.Elangovan, Vice Principal, Head-Corporate Relations, Professor & Head Dept. of EEE, Jansons Institute of Technology, Coimbatore was the Resource Person for the Session. He interacted and shared his knowledge on Innovation and Startup Policy. He Explained about

The dimensions of NISP and thrust areas for HEIs to implement.
HEIs Strategies and governance for promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Norms for faculty and students driven Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Pre-Incubation and Incubation support.
He shares major key points regarding JIT national Innovation Startup Policy

Student Entrepreneurs may earn credits for working on innovative prototypes, Business Models. Institute may need to develop clear guidelines to formalize this mechanism. Student inventors may also be allowed to opt for startup in place of their mini project, major project, seminars, summer trainings. The area in which student wants to initiate a startup may be interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary. However, the student must describe how they will separate and clearly distinguish their ongoing research activities as a student from the work being conducted at the startup.

Institute will allow faculty and staff to take off for a semester, year (or even more depending upon the decision of review committee constituted by the institute) unpaid leave/casual leave/earned leave for working on startups and come back. Institution will consider allowing use of its resource to faculty/students/staff wishing to establish start up as a fulltime effort. The seniority and other academic benefits during such 12 period may be preserved for such staff or faculty.

Dr.M.M. Matheswaran, President of JIT- IIC, He shared about conducting various activities related to innovation, startup and entrepreneurship development. Collective and concentrated efforts are under taken to identify, acknowledge, support and reward proven student ideas and innovations and to further facilitate their entrepreneurial journey. For strengthening the innovation funnel of the institute, access to financing must be opened for the potential entrepreneurs. Networking events must be organized to create a platform for the budding entrepreneurs to meet investors and pitch their ideas provide business incubation facilities: premises at subsidized cost. Laboratories, research facilities, IT services, training, mentoring, etc. should be accessible to the new startups. So for two student members are identified and we provided preincubation facility for their innovative work.

Dr.N.Srinivasan, Coordinator of ARIIA Ranking. He shares the significant and important of Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements. Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) is an initiative of Ministry of Education (MoE), GOI. ARIIA metrics considers all major parameters/ indicators used globally to rank education institutions for innovation output. Additionally, ARIIA also measures some parameters which are India specific considering the current scenario and status of higher education in India.
The ARIIA parameters are primarily organized in major broad parameters with 7 indicators which are further elaborated into suitable sub-heads. Each broad head has an overall weight assigned to it. Within each head, the various sub-heads also have an appropriate weight distribution. The overall score can take a maximum value of 100.The institutions will be rank-ordered based on their scores.
