Expert talk “Activated sludge process Extended aeration systems and trickling filters”
The Department of Civil Engineering, Jansons Institute of Technology organised an expert talk on the topic “Activated sludge process Extended aeration systems and trickling filters” by Mafaz Ahamed R J, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Pandian Saraswathi Yadav Engineering College on 8 th June, 2022 in online mode.
The expert talk had the following key points:
- The activated sludge process is a type of biological wastewater treatment process for treating sewage
- Activated sludge is also the name given to the active biological material produced by activated sludge plants.
- Excess sludge is called surplus activated sludge or waste activated sludge
- Trickling filters (TFs) are used to remove organic matter from wastewater.
- The combination of a trickling filter with an activated-sludge process has allowed for the elimination of shock loads
