The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Webinar on “Green Computing: E–Waste Management through Recycling” on 30.03.2022. The session was taken forward through hybrid mode.
Ms A Sithara, Process Associate, Bosch Global Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore was the Resource Person for the Session. She interacted and shared her knowledge on experience and importance of incentivization of e-waste, data transparency and how e-waste can be an engine for green growth were the outcomes discussed clearly among the participants. Participants were briefed about how,
- To channelize the e-waste generated in the country towards authorized dismantlers and recyclers in order to formalize the e-waste recycling sector.
- To discuss about e-waste collection targets under the provision of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in the Rules.
- To promote an eco-friendly and cleaner environment, along with our own benefits by reducing costs, conserving energy, cutting down on waste. Green computing has definitely come out with so many new innovations along in regards of preserving the environment.
- Also the current trends in domestic production of electronics in India, e-waste generation potential of the country, latest technological initiatives were discussed upon.
The Webinar Talk was well attended by over 46 participants from Final Year CSE. The feedback received was very commendable in all aspects.
