Skill Development Workshop on 13.07.2019
As a practice of shaping-up the students to face the industry post Engineering graduation, Skill Development workshop on Industrial Automation was organized for participants from colleges of various districts of Tamilnadu on 13.07.2019. This course was divided into two sessions namely Industrial Automation (Relay logic) handled by Prof.K. Parimala, AP-EEE and Industrial Automation (Ladder Logic) handled by Dr.S. Elangovan, Prof & Head – EEE.
Industrial Automation (Relay Logic): An Introduction on significance on Industrial Automation is explained to the students to motivate the need of the course. This course includes the hands-on practice of: Implementation of Direct-on-line (DOL) starter, Forward and Reverse control of Induction motor with and without interlock, Inching operation of 3 phase induction motor, Automatic Star – Delta starter, etc.
Industrial Automation (Ladded Logic): An introduction on significance of simulation of Industrial automation using Programming Logic Controller (PLC) was explained to the students to motivate about the necessity of the course. This course includes the hands-on simulation practice of: AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR, XOR, XNOR logic gates, Direct-on-line (DOL) starter, Forward and Reverse control of Induction motor with and without interlock, Inching operation of 3 phase induction motor, Automatic Star – Delta starter, etc.
The students were given simulation projects namely Automatic Water level controller, Street light controller and Traffic light controller. The Students found the course to be informative and actively interacted with the resource persons.
