“Standards Drafting” Event
Standards Drafting: An inter-department technical contest in the quality and standards was conducted for the first year students of 2024 – 2025 batch on 14.02.2024 (Friday) and the Contest was organized by the BIS JIT Standards Club. The main objective of the contest is to kindle the knowledge towards of the young minds towards the quality and standardization. The registration form along with the Guidelines about the contest was shared to all the first year students and a total of 43 teams (80 Participants) actively registered and participated. The event began with a introduction by the Faculty Coordinator, outlining the day’s activities and objective. The participants were informed about the various contests and events centered on the theme of quality and standards. The first segment of the event featured a preliminary round focused on assessing the participants’ knowledge on quality and standards. Contestants competed in a set of challenges that tested their understanding of the concept. Following the preliminaries, the selected finalists took part in an intense quiz competition. The quiz covered various topics related to quality control, industry standards, and best practices. Participants showcased their expertise and competed for the top positions. After that, Science via Standards Event taken place with a session was held to introduce participants to the intersection of science and standards. The BIS Faculty Coordinator provided an overview of how scientific advancements are governed by standards, ensuring consistency and quality across industries. In this segment, participants engaged in a contest where they demonstrated their understanding of how standards play a critical role in scientific advancements. The contestants presented their thoughts and solutions in line with the event’s theme based on the template shared to them. After a lunch break, the BIS Faculty Coordinator led an informative session on standards drafting. The session covered the process of creating and implementing standards, emphasizing the significance of clear, well-structured documentation in maintaining industry norms. Participants took part in a drafting contest where they were tasked with creating their own set of standards for a specific industry based on the template shared to them. The competition challenged them to consider both technical accuracy and clarity in their drafts as per the standards. The evaluation session followed, where judges provided feedback on the contestants’ performances throughout the day. The Faculty Coordinator delivered a valedictory address, thanking all participants and acknowledging their dedication. The event concluded with a feedback session. Participants shared their thoughts on the event, offering suggestions for improvement and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn and compete. Finally the best Performers in the each event were honoured with certificates and prize as a token of Appreciation.
