IEEE Membership Benefits workshop

The JIT–IEEE Student Branch, in association with the JIT–IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group Chapter, successfully organized an “IEEE Membership Benefits Workshop” on 03.02.2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Jansons Institute of Technology. The workshop aimed to create awareness among students about IEEE membership advantages, professional growth opportunities, technical resources, leadership development, and active participation in IEEE activities at national and international levels. 

The event commenced at 02:00 PM with the arrival of all dignitaries on the dais, marking the formal beginning of the program.

At 02:05 PM, the Opening remarks of the Event was delivered by Prof. M. Ramya, Assistant Professor, JIT, who briefed the audience about the objectives of the workshop and the significance of IEEE membership in shaping students’ professional careers.

This was followed by the Welcome Address at 02:10 PM, also delivered by Prof. M. Ramya, Assistant Professor-Dept. of AI&DS, JIT. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, IEEE members, and student participants, and highlighted the role of IEEE and WIE in promoting technical excellence and inclusivity.

At 02:20 PM, the IEEE Membership benefits session was delivered by Dr. S. Elangovan, SB Counsellor, Vice Principal, JIT. In his address, he emphasized:

• The global impact and credibility of IEEE

• Benefits of IEEE student membership, including access to journals, conferences, standards, and professional networking

• The importance of student involvement in IEEE technical societies and affinity groups

• How IEEE activities contribute to career readiness, research exposure, and leadership skills

The keynote session was highly informative and motivating for the student participants.

At 02:50 PM, a discussion on Year Plan of the 2026 was presented by Mr. D. Hemanth, JIT-IEEE SB chair, JIT. He outlined the proposed IEEE Student Branch and WIE activities for the academic year, including technical workshops, competitions, outreach programs, and collaborative events, encouraging active student participation.

At 03:20 PM, Closing Remarks were delivered by Dr. S. Elangovan, Vice Principal, JIT. He appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and reiterated the importance of sustained engagement with IEEE for professional and personal development.

At 03:40 PM, the program concluded formally with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. M. Ramya, Assistant Professor, JIT, who expressed gratitude to the management, dignitaries, faculty members, student coordinators, and participants for their support and cooperation.

At 03:50 PM, a Feedback Session was conducted, during which participants shared their positive feedback and learning outcomes from the workshop.

• Enhanced awareness among students about IEEE membership benefits

• Increased interest in joining IEEE and WIE affinity group activities

• Clear understanding of planned IEEE activities for the academic year

• Motivation among students to participate in technical, professional, and leadership initiatives

The IEEE Membership Benefits Workshop was successfully conducted and well received by the participants. The event effectively fulfilled its objective of educating students on the value of IEEE membership and encouraging active involvement in IEEE student activities, contributing to their academic and professional growth.
