National Girl Child Day Celebration – “Guaranteeing Equal Access of Women to Society ” 

            National Girl Child Day was celebrated to empower the girl child and to impart knowledge in the fields of Education, Empowerment, Gender Equity and Health & Hygiene .

         A webinar on “Guaranteeing Equal Access of Women to Society” was organized on 24.01.2022 . The resource person  for this session was Ms. Rita Poorani, Assistant Professor, Bhaktavachalam Memorial College for Women, Chennai.

                 The speaker initiated her talk by saying  that only gender equality would build a nation and a society attains better development in all aspects only when both genders are entitled to similar opportunities.  Gender stereotyping has been highlighted as one of the significant barriers for women’s equal access to justice. In the context of women’s access to justice, gender stereotyping plays an important role, in particular those stereotypes that primarily consider men as bearers of rights, authority and knowledge. Belonging to vulnerable groups, women can result in an increased restriction of access to certain rights, including justice.
