Bharat Environment Programme – Advancing Sustainable Development Goals for a Greener Future

The National Service Scheme (NSS), in association with the JIT Sustainability Cell, organized the “Bharat Environment Programme – Advancing Sustainable Development Goals for a Greener Future” on 27 April 2026 at the JIT Campus. The programme was conducted to educate students on environmental sustainability and the role of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in addressing global environmental challenges.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Bavana K., I CSBS, followed by an awareness seminar delivered by Dr. K. Senthamil Selvan, NSS Programme Officer. The session highlighted key environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity conservation, waste management, renewable energy, and sustainable consumption. Special emphasis was given to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to clean water, clean energy, climate action, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, and life on land.

An interactive student discussion session enabled NSS volunteers to share their ideas, experiences, and practical solutions for promoting sustainability on campus and within the community. Participants discussed simple yet effective measures such as waste segregation, energy conservation, tree plantation, and plastic reduction. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Vasanth K. V., I ECE, expressing gratitude to the resource person, participants, and organizers for their enthusiastic involvement.
