Seminar on Start-up Initiatives – An Indian Perspective

         The Institution Innovation’s Council of Jansons Institute of Technology organised a seminar on “Start-up Initiatives – An Indian Perspective” in association with  Kumaraguru college of Technology under Mentor- Mentee scheme. The seminar was conducted on 25.05.2022 between 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm. The session started with the Tamil Thai Valthu. Dr.Vinothkumar Mentor, of JIT-IIC welcomes the gathering and Dr.Alagumeenakshi.M – Co-ordinator-Mentor-Mentee scheme-KCT/CBE, explains the objective of the seminar and reveals the profile of the resource person. The session was handled by Dr.D.Surendhran, CEO of Skil Fasteners Private Ltd Coimbatore.

He instructed that India consist the third largest Start-up ecosystem in the world, behind the United States and China, and it is anticipated to grow 12-15% steadily year over year. The start-up has created between 1.6 and 1.7 lakh new jobs, and the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIT) has recognised over 61,400 start-ups, including 14,000 during FY year 2022. The speaker also covered the causes of startup failure and the  phases of a startup’s development. He elaborated on the essential legal compliances; types of business entities and their legal status, member liability, number of members required, transferability, taxation, annual statuary meetings and filings, etc.; The ethical compliances for startups were discussed. He described that role that marketing and advertising play in  critical role in the growth of start-ups and careful compliance with advertising rules stops them from not only avoiding penalties but also being ethical, particularly Infrastructure-related Zonal Laws and Data Protection Laws.The Start-ups are accountable for their responsibilities toward customers, staff, the environment, and other startups. His session served as a motivation and encouragement for young minds who are aiming to become successful entrepreneurs. The session ended with a note of thanks by Dr. Alagu meenaakshi /IIC of KCT and national anthem. About 47 students and 5 teachers are participated and benefitted by this seminar.
